What is a Sports Physician? |
|
A Sports Physician is a Medical Practitioner who is committed to excellence in the practice of medicine as it applies to all aspects of physical activity.
On 17 May 2007 the Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Tony Abbott MHR, has decided that a case has been made for recognising the discipline of Sport and Exercise Medicine as a medical specialty. This follows advice on the matter from the Australian Medical Council. This completes Stage 1 of the AMC recognition process. The next stage is for the AMC to determine whether the Australasian College of Sports Physicians has an appropriate education programme for Sports Physicians. |
